One definition says: mental or emotional pressure that causes strain on an individual. Another definition says: to subject to pressure or strain. In reality stress initiators are not limited to mental and emotional. Spiritual, environmental, physical are all adjectives that can be attached to the word stress. Normally we do not utter the word stress until our coping mechanism has reached overload. But that does not mean that we are not subject to the ravages of stress before reaching the limits. Here are some of the physical responses that have been known to result from stress:

  1. Elevated blood pressure
  2. Accelerated breathing patterns
  3. Gastrointestinal disruption
  4. Elevated heart/pulse rates
  5. Compromised immune system
  6. Abnormal sleep function
  7. Disturbance in the systemic blueprint of our anatomy

Those are but a few of the physiological responses to stress. There are many anomalies in our energy field that we are unaware of when we reach a level of DISTRESS. According to a study done by Stanford University, 90% of all DISEASE stems from stress. Therefore, we can extrapolate that DISTRESS can lead to DIS-EASE. Understanding energy flow in the human body is a major key to the prevention of excessive and potentially debilitating distress.
